Isle of Wight Walking Guidebook - OS Pathfinder Guides
165 miles of fabulous island walking, including family-friendly short walks, half-day rambles, and full-day hikes . . .
Explore 28 wonderful walks with the Isle of Wight walking guidebook , encompassing a wealth of varied and unspoilt scenery across the island, from dramatic cliffs and rolling chalk downland to peaceful river estuaries, woodland and farmland.
The walks range from just under 3 to almost 14 miles with clear, large-scale Ordnance Survey route maps, GPS waypoints, where to park, public transport connections and places of interest en route.
The routes selected all make use of the excellent network of over 500 miles of footpaths and bridleways, which make the Isle of Wight such an ideal location for walkers. Some of the walks in this new book have been adapted from the Pathfinder Short Walks Guide to the Isle of Wight, but there are plenty of fabulous new routes to explore.
Most of the walks in this book can be reached by public transport. For those visiting from the mainland as foot passengers, it’s easy to undertake the walks as day trips, either stepping straight off the ferry (and catamaran or hovercraft) to begin the walks, or catching a bus to the start. The Isle of Wight has an excellent bus service, operated by Southern Vectis, the name a nod to that given to the island by the Romans when they occupied Britain. As well as year round services, there are also highly scenic seasonal ones such as the Needles Breezer and Island Coaster. Details of the buses and stops needed are given in each walk information panel.
